1/3: CBS2 Saturday Afternoon Weather

By Mark McIntyre, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Well it's finally Saturday afternoon, and as promised, the much-advertised mess of a storm is rollin' on in. Expect folks north & west of NYC to start off with pure snow, whereas it'll be a mix of rain/flakes around here. Temps will be at 42 for today's high, then will rise overnight!

Expect all rain area-wide by 8PM. The breakdown is as follows: 1-3" of snow far N/W, a coating just outside the city into Northern NJ, and rain elsewhere. Also, there's a chance of a narrow strip of freezing rain. Even minor accumulations would cause dangerous travel. Regardless - be safe if you're out driving.

Rain continues overnight, heavy at times, and tapers to showers for the day. Temps surge to a high of 60 in NYC, and folks in central/southern NJ seeing mid 60s! The cold front rolls through tomorrow night bringing one last hurrah of showers, maybe some thunder, and gusty winds...as well as much colder air. Highs on Monday only in the upper 20s/low 30s.

We'll keep you posted about today's storm.
