1/27 CBS2 Tuesday Morning Weather Headlines

By Giorgio Panetta, CBS2 Chief Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Hello everyone,

This is a serious storm we're under. Heavy bands of snow deriving from a tropical low down in the Caribbean are smacking the coast.

Long Island has it the worst. Suffolk County has been under intense snow since 1pm Monday. It's tough to know how much snow fell this time.

It is such a light, fluffy snow that accumulations and measurements are hard to obtain. Either way, there has been a general trend of a TON of snow east, and a whole lot less in our western suburbs. Some are likely to wake up to 2 feet-plus.

At least it is a drier snow so shoveling will be easier than a heavy, wet storm.

Some will also unfortunately be woken up to thunder snow. That's how strong this storm is!

Some will also have some storm damage. Flooding and beach erosion are likely in coastal communities.

Stay safe and stay tuned for changes and updates on this blizzard.
