1/26: CBS2 Monday Morning Weather Headlines

Good morning all,

We're watching the first few flakes moving into the region this morning, and we'll have on and off light snow showers during the day, nothing serious...perhaps 1-3" by sunset. We'll have temps in the 20s today with a sort of break in snow showers during the mid-day. Some more snow moves back in for the evening commute and intensifies by midnight.

After midnight, we'll be talking very heavy snow...2-4" per hour. Take a look at the snow totals map below to see just how much we could rack up. Anybody in the area could get a foot...some folks may get over two feet of powder! Winds will ramp up after midnight as well, and will become very strong - gusts over 50 mph possible, especially east of NYC. Some spots across eastern LI? You'll get closer to 60 mph gusts! Power outages, blowing/drifiting snow, and treacherous travel are likely.
Everything will wind down Tuesday evening, and temps bottom out in the teens Tuesday night with a dry day Wednesday and highs only in the upper 20s.
