12/21 CBS2 Sunday Evening Weather Headlines

By Mark McIntyre Jr., CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good evening all, and welcome to winter! As of 6:03 p.m., we welcome a new season-- although it's felt a whole lot like it with the chilly weekend we've been having. Very light scattered rain/snow showers are likely through the night, especially east of NYC. Not talking anything piling up, would be more of the "nuisance" variety - but still, be careful on any slick roads.

After starting off in the upper 20s and low 30s tomorrow, expect some afternoon rain showers tomorrow with temps maxing out in the low/mid 40s. It will be a damp and gray stretch of days coming up, with more clouds and drizzle/showers prevailing Tuesday, with temps hitting 50 in NYC.

Then all attention turns to Christmas Eve with a major storm system set to affect the area. If you're heading over the river and through the woods to Grandma's house, bring the rain gear and leave early! Plenty of soaking rain on Wednesday along with strong wind, and maybe a few thunderstorms as a holiday treat. The silver lining is that temps will be near 60 degrees, so it'll be purely rain. Still though...going to put a bit of a damper on spirits.
