12/17 CBS2 Saturday Morning Weather Headlines

By Mark McIntyre, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good Saturday morning! Best bet for early morning is to stay indoors if you can - it's gonna be a nasty start! A winter storm will be moving through bringing snow, ice, and then rain to the area. Spots in NW NJ and the Catskills should get a 3-6" snowfall with 1-3" closer to NYC. Parts of LI could also get 3+ inches of snow.

There will be sleet & ice mixing in before it completely changes to rain, and there is a chance that some ice could accumulate on the freezing ground and create hazardous travel conditions...so please take extra precaution if you have to be out on the roads at all.

We'll be done with the storm by around 1-2PM, and temps will actually slowly rise to a high of 45 late at night...before rising to near 60 Sunday afternoon!

Stay tuned for the latest and stay warm & dry!
