$12,000 Reward Offered In Police-Involved Shooting In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A $12,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the attempted murder of a police officer and sergeant in Queens.
According to authorities, the two were responding to a report of men trespassing behind an apartment building on Lamont Avenue around 1:50 a.m. Saturday when they saw a man fire a gun at a man he was chasing.
The officer and sergeant got out of their vehicle and ordered the suspect to drop the weapon, police said.
The suspect turned to the sergeant and officer and fired at them, police said.
Both returned fire, but did not strike the suspect before he fled the scene.
The suspect's firearm, a loaded .22 caliber handgun, was recovered at the scene, police said.
Officials described the suspect as a Hispanic male, between 20 and 25 years old, with a medium build.
