2/12 CBS2 Friday & Weekend Weather Headlines

Really no weather concerns this afternoon... about as cold as yesterday, not as windy, and some extra clouds. Our farther northwest suburbs could see a snow shower or two late, so do be mindful of that if you're on the road.

More now showers will swing through tonight. Some areas could pick up a quick coating or an inch or so if they persist, but  we're not expecting much more than that. Winds at sunrise will be a little blustery with feels like temps in the single digits.

It will be even more gusty tomorrow with peak winds around 40 mph. Daytime temperatures will hold steady or even fall off a little bit as the day progresses. But because of the winds, it will only feel like -5 to 5°!

Saturday night will be our coldest period as our temps bottom out and a stiff breeze persists... waking up to wind chills of about -15 to -20° on Sunday with record lows in jeopardy! And if you're keeping track... current record low on Sunday in NYC is 2° set back in 1916... forecasting a low of about 2°.

Anyway, the winds will ease up a little bit on Sunday, but because of the brutal air temps, it will steel only feel like 0-5° into the afternoon... high of only 17°.

As for Monday, we'll rebound some... working our way up to the freezing mark... but we'll be keeping an eye on a system that could arrive as early as late in the day.

Check back for more on the arctic blast!
