1/17 CBS2 Saturday Morning Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good morning,

You'll definitely wanna bundle up if you're headed out, because temps took a plunge overnight! We're in the teens in the city and single digits for some of the suburbs. With a persistent northwest wind, it'll feel closer to zero as you start your day!

Winds gradually diminish as we move into the afternoon. Despite plenty of sun, we won't move out of the upper 20s and lower 30s today across the region. Highs will be ever lower far north and west, barely making it to 20 in some spots. Luckily as we lose those bitter winds, it won't feel as bad as this morning does. But still cold!

The good news is temps will actually hold steady and then start to rise overnight tonight and into Sunday. With that warm surge comes rain though, and a good amount of it.

Rain will move in during the late morning hours on Sunday and continue through the afternoon, heavy at times. Looks like a general 1-2" can be expected across the NYC metro. Most frozen precip will be confined to the far northwest suburbs, where temps will hold closer to the freezing mark.

We clear out for MLK Day on Monday, with highs around 40 under mostly sunny skies. Check back in soon for the latest on tomorrow's storm!
