1/11: CBS2 Sunday Evening Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia, CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Good evening everyone,

After a day with temps in the mid 30s, clouds are now on the increase across the area. Expect precip to move into the region from west to east during the early morning hours tomorrow. With temps just below freezing, this looks like a real mess to start with snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for the entire area, effective at 3 AM tomorrow morning.

As temps climb above freezing, this will change to rain for most, with the best chance of winter precip still mixing in confined to the far NW suburbs. Some minor ice accumulation is possible, with the highest amounts north and west. Expect maybe a slushy coating of sleet around the city before the changeover to rain. Again, these accumulations would be prior to the rain, so if you're not out and about early, you may not even see this! The precip looks to move out west to east during the evening hours.

The good news? The week ahead is looking great, with sun and clouds and near seasonal temps!

Be sure to check back in for the latest on tomorrow's winter mess.
