Police: Man Attempts To Rob 11-Year-Old Boy In Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)-- An 11-year-old boy was the victim of an attempted robbery in Queens earlier this week, police said.

Police said a man was walking near 21 Avenue and 43 Street in Astoria around 2:20 p.m. on Thursday when he walked up behind the young boy, put his arm around his shoulder and attempted to steal the victim's phone from his pocket.

The 11-year-old resisted and the man fled the scene. No injuries were reported.

Police are now looking for the suspect who is described as a white man, 5' 6" tall, and about 200 pounds with dyed red hair.
