Driver Surrenders To Police In Fatal Brooklyn Hit-And-Run

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The driver wanted in a fatal hit-and-run in Brooklyn turned himself in to police Monday morning.

Marco Ortiz of Brooklyn has since been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, police said.

Police confirm the 50-year old surrendered early Monday morning after seeing surveillance video of his white minivan on the news, 1010 WINS reported.

Marlene Zotti, 59, was crossing the street at Ninth Avenue near 42nd Street in Borough Park with her walker and groceries, when she was struck and killed by a driver who sped away early Sunday morning, police said.

Zotti, who was hit a half-block from her home, was rushed to Lutheran Hospital where she died, police said.
