10/1 CBS2 Saturday Afternoon Weather Headlines

Hello, everyone! It's going to be another dreary day to start off October. By no means a washout, but scattered showers and drizzle will be moving on through with overcast skies. The winds wont be as much of a factor today, but temps once again stay on the cool side... low to mid 60s.

Expect a similar story tonight with passing showers and temps not dropping off too much... 59 in NYC. Sunday is looking like the better half of the weekend, but will remain unsettled with additional spotty showers. There is a chance for some sun breaks late in the day for southern areas, but cloudy skies once again overall. Slightly warmer with highs in the upper 60s.

There may even be some lingering sprinkles Monday morning to start the new work week, but we should see some sun as well. Temps reach the low to mid 70s. Seasonable temps return for midweek with a mix of sun and clouds.

As for Hurricane Matthew, it reached category 5 strength overnight before weakening slightly to a category 4 this morning with maximum winds of 155 mph. A dangerous storm, it looks to cause big issues for Jamaica, Haiti, and Cuba before moving into the Bahamas by the middle of next week. After that, there remains much uncertainty on where it'll go and whether it'll have any effects along the eastern coast. We'll certainly be keeping our eyes on it heading into next week.

Stay dry and have a great weekend!
