10 Hurt In Fire At Crown Heights Apartment Building

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A fire broke out at a Brooklyn apartment building, leaving 10 people hurt.

Firefighters responded to the scene in Crown Heights just after 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

The fire apparently started in a second-floor stairwell in a six story apartment building located 718 Saint Marks Avenue, CBS2 reported.

Three residents were seriously injured, CBS2 reported. Three others and four firefighters received minor injuries.

Most of the injuries are due to smoke inhalation, CBS2 reported.

The fire was brought under control within an hour.

The cause is under investigation.
