1 Man Dead, 1 Injured In Route 78 Crash In New Jersey

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- One man was killed and another was injured Sunday afternoon, in a two-vehicle crash on Route 78 in Springfield, N.J.

New Jersey State Police said the crash on Route 78 in Union County occurred around 2 p.m. Sunday. Both cars were eastbound when they collided near milepost 48 in Springfield.

The names of the drivers involved were not immediately disclosed.

Both men were taken to area hospitals, where one was pronounced dead a short time later. The other was being treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

No other injuries were reported in the accident, and it was not immediately known if either driver had passengers in their vehicle.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation Sunday night.
