1 Killed, 2 Hospitalized In Garden State Parkway Crash

CLARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man was killed and two other people were injured early Sunday morning when three vehicles collided on the Garden State Parkway in Union County, state police said.

It's not yet known what caused the crash, which occurred around 3:45 a.m. Sunday in Clark.

The Star-Ledger of Newark reports that the man who was killed, 22-year-old Linden resident Hector Gomez, was found in the roadway. He died a short time later at a hospital.

The drivers of the other vehicles, 18-year-old Brittany Echevarria of Cranford and 37-year-old Jason Star of Asbury Park, were hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

Some southbound lanes of the highway were closed while authorities investigated the accident, but no major travel delays were reported.
