1 Hospitalized When City Bus, 2 Cars Crash In Midtown East

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A city bus and two cars were involved in an accident in Midtown East Tuesday afternoon, sending one person to an area hospital.

The accident happened around 4:15 p.m. at First Avenue and 49th Street, according to the FDNY EMS.

The crash involved a Metropolitan Transportation Authority Staten Island Express bus, and two cars, officials said.

Video from the scene showed the bus and a white Jeep that came to rest head-on. A bus shelter was also taken down in the crash.

There were no passengers on the bus, authorities said.

One person refused medical attention at the scene, and another was hospitalized with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident was not immediately learned.
