1 Dead, 5 Injured When Minivan, Tractor-Trailer Collide On I-87 In Clifton Park

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- One person was killed and five others injured after a tractor-trailer plowed into a minivan that had slowed or stopped with a flat tire on Interstate 87 in Saratoga County.

According to state police, the accident happened around 6:30 a.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes between exits 10 and 11 in Clifton Park.

The 2000 Dodge Caravan was struck from behind by an International tractor-trailer driven by a person from Corinth.

The Caravan was carrying six people, all from the Bronx. All five injured were taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

So far, no names have been released in connection with the crash.

Troopers said the Caravan was either stopped or driving very slowly in the right lane when the truck driver failed to see it and ran into it.
