1 Dead, 2 Injured In Crash On Long Island

CENTEREACH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A two-car crash on Long Island has left one person dead and two others injured.

The crash happened at 1:14 a.m. Saturday in Centereach.

Photos from the scene show a taxi van that collided head-on with a Ramada Inn airport van, According to a Newsday report.

Police said one of the drivers was ejected from the vehicle and killed. The driver was identified by police as 51-year-old Samir Patel, of Holtsville.

Patel's passenger and the driver of the other van were also injured, officials said.

The victims were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The names of the people involved in the accident were not immediately released.
