Zooey Deschanel expecting first child

Zooey Deschanel will have a new girl (or boy) in her life this summer.

The "New Girl" star is expecting her first child with producer Jacob Pechenik, her rep confirmed to People on Tuesday.

"Jacob and I are over the moon. We are so excited to meet our little one," Deschanel, 34, told the magazine.

Deschanel and Pechenik, 42, have been dating since mid-2014, People reports. She was previously married to Death Cab for Cutie singer Ben Gibbard.

When the couple's baby arrives, he or she won't be at a lack for playmates. Deschanel's sister, "Bones" star Emily Deschanel, is expecting her second child with husband David Hornsby.
