Woman shot outside Indiana daycare; ex-husband sought

INDIANAPOLIS – Authorities are searching for a gunman suspected of shooting a woman outside a daycare in Indianapolis Tuesday morning, reports CBS affiliate WISH.

Police say the woman’s ex-husband, 33-year-old Christopher Justice, is believed to be responsible.

The woman had just dropped off two children at the KinderCare on the city’s northwest side when she was shot multiple times, authorities say.

The director of the daycare called police.

Authorities are searching for Justice who was reportedly seen fleeing the scene in a 2006 black Ford Fusion with an Indiana “In God We Trust” license plate number UXR330 with 2014 expiration.

Justice is described as a light-skinned black male, 6 foot 1 inches tall, 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous, reports WISH.

Police say the victim was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

Police at the scene say there were children inside the daycare at the time of the shooting but that no children were hurt.

Anyone with information about the location of the suspect or this incident is urged to call the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department at 317-327-3475.
