Woman found dead in Washington home; 4 children OK

SPANAWAY, Wash. - Authorities are investigating the death of a young mother whose body was found Tuesday at a home in Spanaway, Wash.

Four children - ages 1, 3, 4 and 7 - were in the home where the woman was killed. The children are OK.

The Pierce County medical examiner's office identified the 28-year-old woman as Jennifer Reichardt.

Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says the victim died of trauma but he did not elaborate.

Court records show the woman was divorcing her husband of seven years and filed for an emergency restraining order against him in July.

"We have been to this residence multiple times before. There is a history of domestic violence there. The male has been in jail before. There is a restraining order in place," Troyer told CBS affiliate KIRO.

The News Tribune reports that Troyer says investigators have spoken with the estranged husband, and he is not a suspect in the death at this time.

A neighbor asked deputies to check on the home. They saw the children looking out the window when they should have been in school. The children refused to open the door, so deputies forced their way inside and found the woman's body. Troyer says the children apparently did not witness their mother's death.
