Witnesses: Woman, 74, pulls out gun in effort to stop Walmart robbery

CHESTERFIELD, Va. -- An elderly woman pulled out a gun in an attempt to stop an armed robbery at a Virginia Walmart, witnesses tell CBS affiliate WTVR.

The station reports the armed suspect robbed the Walmart in Chesterfield, outside Richmond, Monday morning and then fled. Police later arrested the suspect after a pursuit.

Police would not confirm the witness accounts that the woman, 74, pulled out a gun during the robbery. Witnesses said she was at first handcuffed by police, and later released. The woman never confronted the armed robber, reports the station.

Charges are reportedly pending against the suspect and no one was injured.
