Why Rosie O'Donnell is leaving "The View"

Rosie O'Donnell announced her exit from "The View" late last week and now we're getting a better idea of the reason behind her departure.

Her publicist, Cindi Berger, said the co-host of the ABC daytime chat show decided to leave to focus on her five children following her split from Michelle Rounds, her wife of nearly three years. They broke up last fall.

Then on Saturday, while at the Athena Film Festival in New York, she told The Hollywood Reporter, "[My health] got a little bit worse right before the holidays."

O'Donnell, 52, first joined "The View" in 2006, then left after a year. She signed back on to the show just last summer.

Her exit leaves Whoopi Goldberg, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez. The chat show, launched by Barbara Walters, has been on the air since 1997.
