Wheelchair used in robbery ruse, $27K Rolex stolen

STAMFORD, Conn. - Police in southern Connecticut are looking for a robber who rolled into a jewelry store in a wheelchair and fled on foot Saturday, reports CBS New York.

Surveillance cameras captured video of a suspect at a Stamford jewelry desk trying on watches with the help of two store employees. The man suddenly uses his legs to push his wheelchair back.

$27,000 Rolex watch in hand, the suspect then knocks over a sales clerk, and then -- very much on his feet -- runs out the door. On his way out, he pushes over a security guard and uses pepper spray on him, according to police.

Investigators are asking the public for help. The suspect is described as a black man in his mid 40s. He's about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, bald with prescription eyeglasses and no facial hair.

The suspect left behind the wheelchair and a Fedora hat, which fell off during his escape.
