What were the top-grossing films of 2014?

This year saw some major blockbusters that included superheroes, sequels and and animation. But which movies raked in the most money at the box office?

Here are the top 10 films at the North American box office in 2014:

1. "Guardians of the Galaxy," $332.9 million.

2. "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1," $308.9 million.

3. "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," $259.8 million.

4. "The Lego Movie," $257.8 million.

5. "Transformers: Age of Extinction," $245.4 million.

6. "Maleficent," $241.4 million.

7. "X-Men: Days of Future Past," $233.9 million.

8. "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," $208.6 million.

9. "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," $202.9 million.

10. "Big Hero 6," $201.5 million.

The upcoming year will feature another found of major films. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has topped Fandango's list of the most-anticipated films of 2015.

Other big films expected out next year include "Avengers: Age of Ultron," "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2," "Fifty Shades of Grey" and "Jurassic World."
