The top moment on Facebook during President Obama's final State of the Union address was when he criticized anti-Muslim sentiment, according to the social media site.
"When politicians insult Muslims, when a mosque is vandalized, or a kid bullied, that doesn't make us safer. That's not telling it like it is. It's just wrong. It diminishes us in the eyes of the world. It makes it harder to achieve our goals. And it betrays who we are as a country," Mr. Obama said during the speech, alluding to comments from GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Facebook said the top issues on its site during the address were Iran, Islam and Muslims, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), terrorism and food stamps.
The most engaged states were Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, New York and North Carolina.
Twitter said the top-tweeted moment on its site was when President Obama declared that the State of the Union is "strong." Other top moments were when the president said the U.S. must reduce the influence of money in politics and when he said he'll keep working to shut down the prison at Guantanamo Bay.
Foreign affairs, energy and the environment and the economy were the most-tweeted topics during the address.
Twitter said Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders were the presidential candidates who were tweeted about the most during the speech.
