"Westworld" probably won't return for season 2 until 2018

Floored by the season finale of “Westworld”? Need to know what happens to the Man in Black?

If you can’t wait for the next season of the hit HBO show, you’re out of luck.

Thandie Newton talks about grappling with reality on "Westworld"

Though HBO picked up the sci-fi show for a second season, which means 10 more episodes, programming president Casey Bloys says fans won’t be able to see season 2 anytime soon. It will most likely return in 2018.

He told Entertainment Weekly of the timing, “My suspicion is sometime in 2018 because of how big the world is and what goes into shooting it. So I don’t have a date exactly – they’re going to have to map it out and write the scripts – but my guess is sometime in ‘18.”

“Westworld” has been a slam dunk for HBO. The show is averaging 11.7 million viewers across the network’s platform, which is even better than “Game of Thrones” did during its first season. “Insecure” and “Divorce” have also been picked up for second seasons.
