Washington family returns home to find house sitter dead

RENTON, Wash. - A Washington family returned home from vacation to find their house sitter dead and now a man - who is reported to be the ex-boyfriend of one family member - has been taken into custody, reports CBS affiliate KIRO.

Renton police said in a news release that the family discovered a 21-year-old female dead in their Renton home in the Rolling Hills neighborhood just before midnight Tuesday, after she failed to pick them up from the airport.

Police say the woman was dead from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the station.

Authorities haven't cited a motive, but said they believe the killing is connected to another homicide in Skyway earlier on Tuesday.

Renton and Skyway are both less than 20 miles south of Seattle.
