Warren blasts Cruz for "sacrifice"

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren went on a Twitter tirade against Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz late Tuesday afternoon, mocking her colleague over a fundraising email that touted the sacrifices he's made on the campaign trail.

Warren's Twitter storm continued, attacking Cruz for his "tantrums" and spending less time talking about his own sacrifices than that of other Americans.

The Cruz campaign fundraising email that precipitated Warren's tweets was titled "sacrifice" and the message was attributed to Cruz himself.

"The sacrifices for our campaign are steep, but I'm proud to be making them on your behalf." It then listed those sacrifices, which ranged from "the constant attacks never stop" to "time with my family is non-existent" and "personal time is not possible."

A follow up email attributed to Cruz campaign manager said that "this campaign has really put Ted through the ringer" and, in bold, "the campaign has been taxing on Ted."

In a recent television town hall, Cruz's wife Heidi acknowledged those sacrifices, but said it was worth it.

"Any time you are doing something that's so much greater than yourself, it's incredibly humbling," she said. "And so we worked hard as a family to think about what this would mean." Cruz's five- and seven-year-old daughters have tutors and sometimes travel with the family on the campaign trail.

Warren's attacks against Cruz potentially benefits both Senators given that they occupy completely different ends of the political spectrums and are unpopular with each other's supporters. In fact, Cruz has made it a habit to attack liberal politicians in the states he visits, such as New York City mayor Bill de Blasio and California governor Jerry Brown.
