"Walking Dead" creator knocks "Game of Thrones" author George R.R. Martin

Now that "Game of Thrones" the TV show has overtaken "Game of Thrones" the books in terms of how far along the story is, the hit HBO series doesn't have to rely on the whims and publishing schedule of author George R.R. Martin -- which has been great news for fans of the show.

But at least one of Martin's contemporaries thinks the author made a huge mistake.

Robert Kirkman, who c0-created "The Walking Dead" comic book and serves as executive producer for the hit series based on it, considers Martin letting HBO move ahead past what he'd written to be a great offense.

Kirkman's main bone of contention? That Martin obliged when asked by the show's producers to fill them in on important plot details leading up to the series' conclusion so that they could keep their project going despite how long he would take to write more of the books.

"I would never do that," Kirkman told Rolling Stone. "That's the one thing I'm disappointed in George R.R. Martin for doing. He should have just been like, 'F**k you. You make it up now, I'll get to mine when I'm ready.'"

Kirkman, for his part, insisted to the magazine that he has his series' ending all worked out -- for the characters in the comic book, at least -- but he's not telling anyone, even his TV writing staff.

"I know how the story wraps up. The big question is when and how far in the distance that is," he said. "But I think that most people think, 'Oh, why would he end it? It's so successful, he's going to keep throwing s**t at the wall to keep it going.' And that's not going to happen. You'll eventually be able to see that it all kind of comes together."
