Virginia man arrested for murder of his grandmother

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Police say a Virginia man is responsible for the Dec. 29 death of his 81-year-old grandmother, reports CBS affiliate WTVR.

Ricardo Green has been indicted on one count of first degree murder in the death of Bernice Pannell. He is also facing grand larceny and felony eluding charges.

Green was previously subject to an emergency protective order, filed against him after being arrested for an alleged domestic assault of his grandmother on November 10, 2015.

Pannell was found dead and bloody on the floor of her North Henrico, Va., home on Dec. 29. According to her family, she lived there with Green.

Police said that soon after, a vehicle driven by Green was spotted by a Richmond police officer. He allegedly accelerated away, leading to a police pursuit. The chase ended in a crash, and Green was transported to a hospital, where he remains. Police have not said what injuries he sustained.
