Vin Diesel confirms "Furious 8" coming in 2017

The "Fast & Furious" franchise is moving full speed ahead with its next installment.

Vin Diesel confirmed Thursday that "Furious 8" will arrive in theaters on April 14, 2017.

The actor shared the news at Universal Pictures' panel at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

This will be the first "Fast & Furious" installment without Paul Walker, who died in a car crash before "Furious 7" completed filming. Speaking on stage, Diesel got emotional while talking about his late co-star and friend.

"The last time I was on this stage I was with my brother Pablo," he said, adding, "I swear to you and I swear to my brother upstairs we're going to make the best movie you've ever seen."

"Furious 7" has dominated the box office since its April 3 release, so far earning $1.15 billion worldwide.
