Cops: Villanova celebrations lead to 6 arrests, 25 injuries

VILLANOVA, Pa. --Moments after Kris Jenkins sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to net Villanova men's basketball its first championship in more than three decades, thousands students rushed out of the school's arena.

The hours-long partying outside and at nearby bars and restaurants led to six arrests and 25 injuries, according to police, who said revelers were mostly peaceful.

Police in riot gear stood by as celebrants shouted and chanted wildly. There also were reports of some students scaling a light pole and others creating small bonfires.

Radnor Police Sgt. Anthony Radico says one of those arrested was accused of assaulting a police horse.

There are no details on the injuries.
