Video: Police respond to brawl at Sikh temple in California

TURLOCK, Calif. -- Cell phone video captured chaos Sunday at a Sikh temple in Northern California, where police were called to quell a brawl, reports CBS Sacramento.

The video shows members of the Sikh Temple in Turlock shoving and throwing punches at each other, and witnesses told CBS Sacramento that some swung kirpans, ceremonial swords or knives carried by Sikhs.

Harinder Toor, a member of the temple who was inside when the melee started, said a dispute over temple leadership became heated. He said different factions have been fighting for power for years and the tensions boiled over Sunday.

The Turlock Police Department said it has responded to fights at the temple before, but none quite like this one.

Still, no arrests were made, and police say no one was injured beyond scratches and bruises.
