VIDEO: Burglars steal $20K in jewelry from Los Angeles home

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Authorities are looking for three burglars who ransacked a home in the Westchester section of Los Angeles last month and made off with more than $20,000 worth of jewelry, reports CBS Los Angeles.

The crime, which took place January 29, was captured on surveillance video, officials say.

The video shows the three suspects inside and outside the house and one of them is even seen cutting alarm and power cables to the home.

The LAPD reportedly believes the three suspects are responsible for a rash of burglaries in the area in recent weeks.

Police told CBS Los Angeles the burglars typically knock on the door and if no one is home, they will go around the side or back and break a window to get in.

The video shows two of the men standing watch while a third enters the home through a bathroom window. That suspect is then seen opening the backdoor for the other two.

Once inside, the suspects ransacked the place for valuables.

Residents in the area tell the station they are concerned about the recent crime spree and they’ve met with the LAPD for ideas on how to make their neighborhood safer and how to make themselves and their homes less likely to be victimized.
