Eyewitnesses told the Record that the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. in front of a Marshalls store. The officer was reportedly shot in the right leg and was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery.

"I think it's crazy that of all places it happened here," 17-year-old Kaniya Beauvoir, a witness at the scene, told the paper. "It sounded like he unloaded a full clip. Who does that? It's the middle of the day and there are kids around."

It is unclear which police department employs the undercover officer.
