Tycoon's daughter pens open letter to dad: Please accept that I'm gay

HONG KONG - The daughter of a flamboyant Hong Kong tycoon whose offer of a multimillion-dollar dowry inspired a movie has written an open letter asking him to accept who she is after he reportedly raised the price.

In a letter to Cecil Chao published Wednesday by two Hong Kong newspapers, Gigi Chao said she knows it's "difficult for you to understand, let alone accept" how she could be romantically attracted to a woman.

But she added that "it would mean the world to me if you could just not be so terrified" of her partner.

The tycoon made world headlines when he offered 500 million Hong Kong dollars ($65 million) to the man who could successfully woo his daughter. A Malaysian newspaper reported last week he has doubled the offer.
