Two suspects arrested for 1984 rape and murder of Pa. teen

BENSALEM, Pa. -- Authorities have arrested two suspects who they believe were responsible for the 1984 rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl, reports CBS Philly.

The investigation began when Barbara Rowan was reported missing by her parents in August 1984. A few weeks later, her decomposed body was discovered.

Police had a suspect, but charges were never filed due to insufficient evidence. The case was reassigned in 2002, and Bensalem Police and the Bucks County District Attorney's Office now say two people have been arrested, the station reported.

Authorities say that FBI tests of tape found on the victim's body, as well as wire taps and hard police work, led to the arrests of George Shaw, in Florida, and Robert Sanders, in Monroe County, Pa.

Both suspects will eventually be extradited to Bucks County, Pa., according to the station.
