Two in custody in S.C. missing woman case

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Authorities searched a Myrtle Beach home and took two people into custody Friday morning in connection with the disappearance of Heather Elvis, a 20-year-old woman who has been missing for more than two months.

Horry County Police Lt. Robert Kegler said no charges have been filed.

Investigators were looking for evidence in the disappearance of Elvis. She was last seen Dec. 17, 2013. Her car was found abandoned days later at a boat landing.

Kegler says expert analysis of surveillance video and financial discrepancies in documents filed with the state led to the home that was searched. He did not give any additional details.

The home that was searched Friday is less than five miles from where Elvis was last seen, reports the Myrtle Beach Sun-Times.
