Two draft sleigh horses killed by train in Colorado

FRASER, Colo. - The owners of a sleigh ride business are mourning the loss of two of their prized draft horses after the animals were hit and killed by a train Saturday.

The accident happened near County Road 5 and Highway 40 near Fraser, reports CBS Denver.

According to a spokesman from the company Dashing Thru The Snow, the draft horses escaped their corral and ended up on the tracks.

They were members of two separate sleigh teams, so the business is scrambling to find replacement horses for the busy Christmas week.

The company said they plan to handle the reservations already booked, while an owner travels to Utah to bring back more horses for the time being.

The accident is still under investigation.
