Two charged with capital murder in suspected Ala. drug killing

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - Two men have been arrested and charged in the death of a 47-year old Birmingham man, according to CBS affiliate WIAT.

Police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards reportedly said 28-year-old Jason Hopkins and 46-year-old Dane Leach are charged with capital murder in the killing of Mark Kiekowski.

According to the station, police were called to a home on Friday Jan. 16 after somebody reported a man was down. When officers arrived they found Kiekowski unresponsive on the floor.

Jefferson County District Attorney Brandon Falls said Kiekowski was killed during a robbery and both Hopkins and Donovan are being held without bond at the Jefferson County jail, reports AL.com.

Police reportedly said a preliminary investigation shows the incident was drug-related and that the two suspects have extensive criminal records.
