Two accused of illegal dentistry in Dallas

DALLAS -- A man and woman living in North Texas have been accused of pretending to be dentists and leaving a "patient" severely hurt after yanking out several of her teeth, CBS DFW reported.

The former patient of the two contacted authorities after a house call in May in which she agreed to pay the "dentists" $1,500. Mario Sabillon-Mejia and Tiffany Gonzalez allegedly injected an unknown substance in the woman and pulled multiple teeth, and she later developed an infection, according to the station.

Federal authorities say that Sabillon-Mejia is in the U.S. illegally, and is being held on charges of practicing medicine without a license, possession of dangerous drugs and alias warrants.

Gonzalez, who allegedly assisted him, is facing similar charges, according to CBS DFW.

The station reported that Dallas County records don't list an attorney for Sabillon-Mejia, who was arrested Wednesday with bond set at $105,000.

Police reportedly found a lot of dental equipment and a book in possession of Sabillon-Mejia.

"We have a book with a lot of names in it and we want to hear from them, obviously anytime you practice without a license, you're going to cause people irreparable harm," said Lt. Tony Crawford of the Dallas Police Department.
