Twitter users blast Tony Blair on Iraq
Angry critics took to social media Sunday to denounce Tony Blair's assertion that the 2003 invasion of Iraq is not to blame for the current insurgency in that country.
In an essay issued Sunday, the former British prime minister said the West's failure to intervene in the Syrian civil war is the reason for the violence engulfing neighboring Iraq.
Blair led Britain to join the U.S.-led intervention in 2003, and is now a Middle East peace envoy.
His comments were met with a barrage of rage and ridicule on Twitters, with some posters saying he should be removed from his envoy role and others saying he should be tried for war crimes.
