Bald eagles run over, killed; driver cited

UNALASKA, Ak. -- A 28-year-old Oregon man has been accused of running over several bald eagles feeding on a roadway in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, killing two and injuring two others.

The Alaska Dispatch News reports that Alaska State Troopers cited Dennis Thompson after a witness reported the act to police in Unalaska, in the Aleutian islands. The troopers took control of the case.

Witnesses say a Ford truck hit the eagles near the city's landfill June 7.

Troopers cited the man for using a motorized vehicle to harass or molest game and accused him of accelerating his truck through several bald eagles.

The man is scheduled to be arraigned in Unalaska District Court June 30.
