Tornado touches down in Texas

DALLAS -- A tornado has touched down as part of a severe storm system moving into North Texas that's bringing with it hail and high winds.

Storm chasers broadcast images of the tornado Sunday in the area of rural Comanche and Erath counties. The storm was moving toward the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which is under a tornado watch into Sunday evening.

Baseball-size hail was reported near Stephenville, about 70 miles southwest of Fort Worth, and motorists were reporting damage to vehicles.

There were no immediate reports of injuries in the aftermath of the tornado.

Stephenville police say shelters were opened at the city library and other locations.

The Weather Service issued a tornado watch until 11 p.m. for 23 counties in north-central Texas.
