Toddler girl found alone near Chicago forest preserve

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, Ill. - Authorities say family members have identified a girl who was found near a suburban Chicago forest preserve.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office says the 3-year-old girl is named Aliya. Officials say she has been placed with a family member after relatives positively identified her late Tuesday night.

A passer-by in the Chicago suburb of Prospect Heights found her earlier Tuesday evening near the Allison Woods Forest Preserve, reports CBS Chicago.

The sheriff's office says its detectives and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services are conducting investigations.

Sheriff Tom Dart says media coverage brought in tips that led to the girl's identification.
