Three killed in small plane crash in Southern California

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. -- A small place crashed Sunday morning in Southern California, killing three people, authorities said.

The single-engine plane went down in the mountains west of Lake Elsinore in Riverside County around 9:21 a.m., fire officials told CBS Los Angeles.

The crash ignited a small brush fire that was quickly extinguished.

All three people aboard the plane were killed. There was no immediate word on their identities.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were investigating.
