Wildfires

Firefighters on the front lines of Western wildfires will soon have more help in battling the unpredictable flames. Nearly 80 blazes are burning in eight states, forcing thousands of people from their homes. Some of the most severe fires are in Washington state. Danielle Nottingham reports from Chelan, Washington, the scene of one of the largest.

Lost Ally

A powerful senator has announced his opposition to the Iran nuclear accord, dealing what's seen as a big blow to the administration as it fights to win congressional approval of the agreement.

Female Army Rangers

Two female soldiers are making history as the first women to graduate from the Army Ranger School. They made it through a grueling two-month training program, with nearly constant physical and mental stress. The Army has not yet released their names. The Armed Services are under orders to open up all combat jobs to women by the end of this year. David Martin reports on the trailblazing achievement.

Sinking land

California's water emergency is creating a crisis in one of the world's most important farm regions, the San Joaquin Valley. As farmers pump groundwater to keep their crops alive during the drought, the ground is starting to deflate like a leaky air mattress. Ben Tracy shows us how the land is becoming as unstable as the water supply.
