"The Walking Dead" season 5 premiere date, new trailer revealed at Comic-Con

Looks like Comic-Con was worth the wait.

The cast and crew of "The Walking Dead" appeared together on a panel at the San Diego pop culture event Friday, where it was revealed that season 5 will kick off on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. ET, according to TVLine.

Something that wasn't divulged was what awaits Rick and his group of survivors, who were last seen plotting an escape after being trapped in a train car by the residents of Terminus.

There has also been much speculation over the fate of Beth (Emily Kinney), whose whereabouts are currently unknown after she was kidnapped and separated from Daryl (Norman Reedus). Kinney appeared on the panel and said that her character has grown in leaps and bounds since her season 2 debut.

"Beth has lived a little now. She's just not an innocent teenager anymore," Kinney said.

A new trailer for season 5 was also unveiled during the panel (which you can see below).

Comic-Con runs through Sunday.
