"The Voice" star Christina Grimmie shot at Orlando concert

Update: Christina Grimmie has died, officials said Saturday.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Singer Christina Grimmie, who competed on NBC's "The Voice," was shot and critically wounded after a concert in Orlando Friday night, police told CBS affiliate WKMG.

The shooting took place at The Plaza Live, a concert venue on Bumby Street in Orlando, where Grimmie was performing along with a band called Before You Exit.

The Orlando Sentinel reported police said the gunman approached Grimmie after the show as she and the band were signing autographs and shot her.

Orlando police said on Twitter Grimmie's brother tackled the shooter, who then committed suicide. Officials who spoke with WKMG called Grimmie's brother a hero.

The suspect was armed with two guns, according to police. His identity was not immediately released, and it was unknown if he knew Grimmie.

The 22-year-old singer appeared on season 6 of "The Voice" in 2014 and finished in third place.
